Rich aromas
of plum, blackberry, cigar box and leather, with subtle notes of
cedar from barrel aging on the nose. The nice barrel influence
continues onto the palate with a beautiful, sweet entry. Bold
flavors of dark chocolate, toasted tobacco and black
fruits are balanced by smooth, supple tannins and a full
bodied mouthfeel. Each sip builds the flavor intensity,
leading to a lingering finish bursting with concentrated
flavors.
Wonderful
with rich meats such as lamb shank, blackened tri-tip, roasted
quail or coco-nib-encrusted steak. Foods that mirror the flavors in
the wine are also a great pairing, such as mole sauce, asian
hoisin (plum sauce) duck and brandied fruits.
